Newcastle United fans says that they are 'disappointed' with the club's fans to agree a shirt sponsorship deal with Wonga for next season.

Newcastle United supporters have expressed their "disappointment" in the club's proposed deal with payday lender Wonga.

It emerged this week that the North East outfit are in negotiations with the company over becoming the club's shirt sponsor in a deal which is thought to be worth over £20m a year.

Editor of independent fanzine Toon Talk, Steve Wraith, told Shields Gazette: "I'm disappointed because a lot of people already have replica shirts with Virgin Money and they will have to spend again to stay up to date for next season. Mike Ashley (owner) should be more worried about spending some wonga to improve the side."

The Magpies' current sponsors, Virgin Money, are expected to be replaced for the 2012-13 season.
