Manchester United are reportedly trying to drive down the price for Diogo Costa, with the Red Devils not currently willing to pay Porto's valuation of around £64m.

Manchester United have reportedly made it clear that they are attempting to lower the cost of signing goalkeeper Diogo Costa from Porto in this summer's transfer window.

The 23-year-old has been a key part of Sergio Conceicao's side this season, keeping 16 clean sheets in 33 league matches to help the Portuguese giants finish second behind Benfica in the Primeira Liga standings.

Having seized the number-one spot in the Portugal national team from former Wolverhampton Wanderers stopper Rui Patricio, the Porto academy graduate is understood to have attracted interest from around Europe - including from the red side of Manchester.

According to A Bola, Manchester United are trying to drive down the price they will have to pay for Costa this summer as they are currently unwilling to fork out more than their valuation of the player.

Although the Red Devils' interest in the keeper is said to be intensifying, it is also believed that Erik ten Hag's men are looking to secure Costa for less than Porto's asking price of just over £64m.

Despite David De Gea winning the Premier League's Golden Gloves this season after collecting 17 clean sheets, United are said to be planning for a future in which the Spaniard is no longer their first-choice goalkeeper, with Costa a possible successor to that title.
