Manchester United are interested in signing Leroy Sane from Bayern Munich next summer if the opportunity arises, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly keeping a close eye on Leroy Sane's contract situation at Bayern Munich, with the Red Devils one of three Premier League clubs interested in his signature.

The 27-year-old's future is currently the subject of much speculation, as his contract at Allianz Arena is due to expire in the summer of 2025.

Liverpool are believed to view Sane as the ideal replacement for Mohamed Salah, should the Egypt international make the move to Saudi Arabia during next summer's transfer window.

Meanwhile, Manchester City are also said to be keen to re-sign the player who represented them between 2016 and 2020, scoring 39 goals and registering 46 assists in 135 appearances for the club.

According to journalist Ekrem Konur, Man United are monitoring the developments, with the Red Devils keen to secure his signature at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

Sane has been in impressive form for Bayern this season, scoring nine goals and registering seven assists in 18 appearances in all competitions.

The Germany international has eight goals and six assists in 11 Bundesliga outings, while he has managed one goal and one assist in four appearances in the Champions League.

When asked about his future while away on international duty, Sane told reporters: "I haven't given it any thought. The club wants to have discussions but at the moment I want to concentrate on the season. Bayern will be my first point of contract, everything else will take care of itself."

Man United will be in the market for at least one forward next year, and the fact that Sane is capable of operating off both the left and the right makes him an attractive proposition for the club.

Finding the back of the net has been a problem for the 20-time English champions this season, with Rasmus Hojlund their leading goalscorer on five.

Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro are next in the list with four each, but Anthony Martial, Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford have scored just once, while the likes of Facundo Pellistri and Antony are yet to register.

Jadon Sancho is still not involved with the first team due to his falling-out with head coach Erik ten Hag, meanwhile, which is expected to lead to him leaving in January.

Bayern are highly unlikely to agree to selling Sane in the middle of the campaign due to his importance, with the club expected to be chasing success in multiple competitions this term.

However, if a contract cannot be agreed between now and next June, the Munich giants could potentially place him up for sale, as the club would not want to run the risk of losing him on a free transfer in 2025.
