Leeds United reportedly open talks with midfielder Kalvin Phillips over extending his contract, amid interest from Manchester United.

Leeds United have reportedly open talks with midfielder Kalvin Phillips over extending his contract, amid interest from Manchester United.

The Red Devils have had a long-standing interest in Phillips' England teammate Declan Rice, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are set to switch their attention from the West Ham United midfielder and target the Yorkshireman instead.

Leeds are desperate to keep hold of the 25-year-old, though, and the Daily Star reports that they have entered contract negotiations with the player's representatives to try and fend off any interest.

The report also states that talks are at an early stage and Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani is prepared to make the midfielder the club's highest-paid player.

As well as United, Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester City have also been credited with an interest in Phillips, who is valued at around £60m.

Phillips has made 218 appearances across all competitions for Leeds since making his debut in 2015, scoring 14 goals and providing 12 assists
