Bukayo Saka could emulate an Arsenal feat last achieved by Alexis Sanchez when the Gunners host Chelsea at the Emirates in Tuesday's Premier League London derby.

Arsenal attacker Bukayo Saka will be out to match a feat last achieved by Alexis Sanchez when the Gunners host Chelsea in the Premier League on Tuesday night.

The England international's continued progression has been a major factor in Arsenal's unexpected title charge this season, as he sits on 13 goals and 11 assists from 33 Premier League outings.

Saka is the only player in the English top flight to hit double figures in both goals and assists this season, taking his total for Arsenal to 37 goals and 40 assists from 174 senior appearances.

Nine of Saka's goals and seven of his assists this season have come at the Emirates Stadium, where he has both scored and set up another in clashes with Crystal Palace, Everton and Southampton.

Should the 21-year-old also post a goal and assist on Tuesday night, he would become the first Arsenal player since Sanchez in the 2014-15 season to do so in four home games in a single season.

During Sanchez's debut campaign at Arsenal, the Chilean attacker scored and assisted in four separate Emirates contests against Liverpool, Stoke City, Queens Park Rangers and Hull City.

Sanchez was subsequently named the PFA Fans' Player of the Year for the 2014-15 season and earned a place in the PFA Team of the Year, ending the campaign with 16 goals and eight assists in the Premier League.

Eight years later, Arsenal are involved in a two-horse race with Manchester City for their first top-flight crown since the Invincibles of 2003-04, and their recent record against Chelsea makes for positive reading.

Since Mikel Arteta took charge of the club, Arsenal have lost just two of their last eight matches with Chelsea, winning five of their last six against Frank Lampard's team.

The Gunners ran out 1-0 winners at Stamford Bridge back in November thanks to a Gabriel Magalhaes goal, which marked their third successive victory on the Blues' territory.

However, Chelsea have triumphed in two of their last three Premier League visits to the Emirates, prevailing 2-0 in August 2021 thanks to goals from Romelu Lukaku and Reece James.

Lampard's men enter the London derby languishing in 12th place in the table, though, having lost each of their last five games since their all-time top goalscorer returned for a second spell in charge.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have been bumped down to second spot by Man City, who sit one point clear of Arteta's side with a game in hand thanks to their 2-1 victory over Fulham on Sunday.

Three points for Arsenal would therefore take them temporarily back to the summit, but the champions will have the chance to respond when they host West Ham United on Wednesday.

Arteta confirmed on Monday morning that William Saliba would miss Tuesday's game with his troublesome back injury, while Takehiro Tomiyasu and Mohamed Elneny are both recovering from season-ending knee surgeries.
