Former Manchester United, Arsenal striker David Herd dies, aged 82

Former Scotland international David Herd, who played for the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal, passes away aged 82.

Former Manchester United and Arsenal striker David Herd has died aged 82.

The Scot played a key role in the Red Devils' revival following the 1958 Munich air disaster and scored twice in their 3-1 win over Leicester City in the 1963 FA Cup final.

All in all he made 265 appearances for the Old Trafford giants and scored 145 goals.

Herd was also a success at Arsenal, where he scored 107 times in 180 appearances, though he was unable to win a trophy with the Gunners.

The forward, who won five international caps for Scotland, started his career at Stockport County and also played for Stoke City and Irish club Waterford.
