League One roundup: Walsall overtake Gillingham to go top

Sports Mole rounds up all of Saturday's League One action, with Walsall going top of the table after a 3-2 win over previous leaders Gillingham.

Walsall are top of League One on goal difference after a 3-2 win against previous leaders Gillingham.

Cody McDonald and Bradley Dack gave the Gills a two-goal advantage within the opening 32 minutes, but were stunned as Kieron Morris and Milan Lalkovic brought the game level by both scoring in the space of two minutes.

Jason Demetriou then rounded off the goalscoring drama in the final minute of play by netting the winner to take his side to the top of the table.

Meanwhile, Burton Albion pushed closer to the top spot and overtook Gillingham to go second thanks to a 1-0 away victory against Oldham Athletic, with Abdenasser El Khayati's first-half goal enough to defeat the Latics.

Bury produced a convincing attacking display and moved up to fourth with a 4-3 home win over Blackpool, as a Danny Rose brace and goals from Chris Hussey and Tom Soares cancelled out finishes from Mark Cullen, Clark Robertson and Jack Redshaw.

Coventry City came from behind to beat Peterborough United, with a second-half goal from Romain Vincelot and late Adam Armstrong brace cancelling out finishes from Jermaine Anderson and Erhun Oztumer to secure a 3-2 win.

Crewe Alexandra remain bottom but picked up a much needed third win of the season against Sheffield United thanks to a Ryan Colclough goal.

At Glanford Park, first-half goals from Tom Hopper and Gary McSheffrey handed Scunthorpe United a 2-0 win against struggling Barnsley, who have now lost nine of their 16 games this season.

Wigan Athletic left it late to grab a 1-0 win against Swindon Town as Francisco Junior scored in the sixth minute of time added on to keep his team in fifth.

Doncaster Rovers picked up a 2-0 victory at home against Colchester United thanks to goals from Conor Grant and Andrew Williams either side of half time.

Rochdale came back from a two-goal deficit to draw away against Southend United, with Joe Bunney and Michael Rose goals matching first-half finishes from David Mooney and Ryan Leonard.

Port Vale moved up the table thanks to a Louis Dodds goal and Michael O'Connor penalty, which gave Rob Page's team a 2-0 victory over Shrewsbury Town.

Elsewhere, a Sylvan Ebanks-Blake finish gave Chesterfield a 1-0 away victory over Fleetwood Town, while Millwall and Bradford City battled out a 0-0 draw at The Den.
