Tottenham Hotspur will allegedly attempt to sign Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho if they allow Harry Kane to join Manchester City.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering whether to make a move for Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho later this summer.

At a time when the Catalan giants desperately need to reduce their wage bill to accommodate Lionel Messi, it has been well-documented that they are willing to part ways with Coutinho.

The out-of-favour Brazil international is closing in on a return from a serious knee injury, putting him in the sights of a number of Premier League clubs.

According to reports in Spain, Spurs plan to make a formal approach for Coutinho if Manchester City meet their £150m valuation for Harry Kane.

There is every sign that the saga involving the England captain, who is yet to return to club duties after Euro 2020, will drag on towards the end of the transfer window.

Nevertheless, Barcelona will listen to all offers - permanent or temporary - for Coutinho until they find a club who are prepared to negotiate a deal.
