Steve McManaman claims that a move to Manchester City for Harry Kane would be the "easy" choice, amid speculation of an exit from Tottenham Hotspur.

Steve McManaman has claimed that a move to Manchester City would be the "easy" choice for Harry Kane, amid speculation of an exit for the Tottenham Hotspur striker.

The 27-year-old has been linked with a move away from North London, having openly talked about his ambition of achieving silverware.

Kane has 29 goals in all competitions for the Lilywhites this season, with Tottenham sitting sixth in the Premier League table.

Speaking to Horse Racing, McManaman said: "If he wants to win trophies, of course, the team who wins the most trophies at the moment is Manchester City, so that would be an easy decision.

"But people get carried away with all this 'He needs to win trophies to be a great player', he doesn't, he's a great player anyway. He's going to be one of the best.

"Look at Alan Shearer. People talk about the lack of trophies he didn't win but no one can tell me Alan Shearer isn't an absolute superstar. Harry Kane will be the same if he stays at Tottenham."

The current England captain has 328 appearances and 217 goals for Spurs since breaking into the first team in 2011-12.
