Alessandro Del Piero praises Francesco Totti after the Roma striker became the joint-second top scorer in Serie A on Sunday.

Italian legend Alessandro Del Piero has hailed his compatriot Francesco Totti for scoring his 225th Serie A goal on Sunday.

The Roma striker reached the milestone during his side's 3-1 home win against Genoa, becoming the joint-second top scorer of all time in the Italian top flight in the process.

"225 goals, another great target reached by a great champion – well done Francesco! Ciao Ale," Del Piero wrote on his Twitter account.

Gunnar Nordahl also scored 225 goals during his career in Serie A, while Silvio Piola is the all-time top scorer with 274 strikes.
