Ambler didn't disclose who made the bid, but confirmed that it had been rejected.
Beevers, 24, has made 63 league appearances for the Lions since joining from Sheffield Wednesday 18 months ago.
Ambler also revealed on the club website today that they are in talks with out-of-contract Yeovil Town defender Byron Webster, while new deals have been offered to David Forde and Lee Martin.
