Bayern Munich move closer to signing Tottenham Hotspur centre-forward Harry Kane, according to a report.

Bayern Munich are reportedly now 'close' to signing Tottenham Hotspur centre-forward Harry Kane, with executives from the club set to meet with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy on Monday.

The Munich giants have identified Kane as their number one transfer target this summer and are pushing hard to bring the England captain to Allianz Arena.

According to the Daily Mail, Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and technical director Marco Neppe will meet with Levy on Monday with the view to coming to an agreement over a transfer fee for the 30-year-old.

The report claims that Bayern are confident when it comes to their chances of signing Kane, with the Bundesliga champions expected to submit an offer of £75m.

The Munich outfit have already had two offers turned down, with Tottenham thought to want £90m to sell their star player this summer, but the two teams are expected to find common ground.

Kane is believed to be determined to make the move to Bayern this summer, believing that he has a strong chance of winning the Champions League with the club.

Manchester United have also been heavily linked with his services this summer, but it soon became clear that Tottenham would not be willing to let him move to a domestic rival.

Levy had allegedly been prepared to run the risk of losing Kane on a free transfer next year, but Tottenham owner Joe Lewis is believed to have made it clear that the forward will have to be sold unless he signs a new deal.

Spurs will not play European football next season following their eighth-placed finish in the 2022-23 Premier League table, which is believed to have played a major role in Kane deciding that he wants to leave.

The Three Lions skipper was again in impressive form at club level last season, scoring 32 goals and registering five assists in 49 appearances in all competitions.

Kane found the back of the net on 30 occasions in the Premier League, but he was unable to help Spurs claim a European position in the table.

The forward is Tottenham's all-time leading goalscorer on 280, while he is second in the all-time list in terms of Premier League strikes, netting 213 times in the competition to Alan Shearer's 260.

Kane is seemingly prepared to pass up the chance to move closer to Shearer's record next season in favour of challenging for major silverware at Allianz Arena.

Bayern have been looking for a new number nine since allowing Robert Lewandowski to make the move to Barcelona during last summer's transfer window.
