Barcelona inform Chelsea that they would want a Blues player included as a makeweight in a potential deal for Philippe Coutinho, according to a report.

Barcelona have reportedly informed Chelsea that they would be prepared to accept a Blues player as a makeweight in a potential deal for Philippe Coutinho.

The Spanish champions are believed to have placed Coutinho on the transfer list ahead of this summer's transfer window, which has led to a host of speculation surrounding the Brazilian's future.

Chelsea are one of a number of clubs to be credited with an interest in the former Liverpool playmaker, and according to Sport, Barca are prepared to part with the 27-year-old for just £44.5m this summer.

The report, though, claims that the Catalan giants would want a Chelsea player, either a left-back or a central defender, included in the deal.

Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri are both believed to be available for transfer this summer, while Kurt Zouma is currently being linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United have also been mentioned as possible suitors for Coutinho, who has scored nine times and registered eight assists in 32 appearances on loan at Bayern Munich this season.
