Bournemouth are reportedly set to enter the race to sign Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott.

Bournemouth have reportedly entered the race to sign Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott.

The Cherries are looking to strengthen their midfield following the departure of Jefferson Lerma, who is leaving the club after spending five years on the South Coast.

The Colombia international will join fellow Premier League club Crystal Palace on July 1 when his Bournemouth contract expires.

Bournemouth boss Gary O'Neil will also be keen to assemble a squad that can build upon last season's 15th-placed finish.

According to the Daily Mail, the Cherries have identified Scott as a potential target for the summer transfer window.

Despite having two years left to run on his current contract, Scott is widely expected to leave Ashton Gate this summer.

Bournemouth have expressed an interest in the 19-year-old, but they are reluctant to meet Bristol City's £25m asking price.

The 19-year-old is also attracting interest from a number of other Premier League clubs, including Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United.

Liverpool, meanwhile, sent their head of recruitment Dave Fallows and chief scout Barry Hunter to watch Scott play 70 minutes for England Under-20s in March's encounter with Germany.

Although they have kept tabs on the Englishman's progress, it is currently unclear whether the Merseyside club still hold an interest.

Scott made 42 appearances during the 2022-23 Championship season, scoring one goal and contributing five assists for Nigel Pearson's side.

The midfielder has also made an impression at England youth level, helping his country win the Under-19 Euros last summer.

Scott also featured in three of England's four matches at the recent Under-20 World Cup in Argentina, where Ian Foster's side were eliminated at the last-16 stage by Italy.
