Elche edge past Espanyol

Elche cruise past Espanyol 2-1 in La Liga, thanks to a double from Coro.

Elche have beaten Espanyol 2-1 in La Liga thanks to two goals from Coro.

The visitors also ended the game with 10 men after Victor Sanchez received a second yellow card.

The hosts dominated the first half and eventually took the lead when Coro turned well inside the box and fired past the goalkeeper just before half time.

Midway through the second half, Espanyol got back on level terms thanks to Thievy, who collected a loose ball and it into the corner from the edge of the box.

Elche were back in front soon after, though, with Coro again finishing well following good work from Carles Gil in midfield.

The home side were comfortable thereafter and even saw Espanyol reduced to 10 men in the final few minutes as Victor Sanchez received a second yellow card.
