Real Betis move into playoff places with win over Barcelona B

Real Betis edge past Barcelona B with a 1-0 win to move into the playoff places in the Segunda Division.

Real Betis earned their first win in four games with a 1-0 victory over Barcelona B this evening to move back into the playoff places in the Segunda Division.

The first half was a subdued affair with few chances for either side, although Vincenzo Rennella did force Adrian Ortola into a good save in the 27th minute.

Five minutes after the break, the hosts went ahead when Ruben Castro finished at the far post from Rennella's centre.

Rennella was at the heart of all of Betis's attacks and Ortola had to be alert to thwart the forward once more in the 55th minute.

The dominant home side began to retreat further into their own half as the final whistle loomed, but they held on despite a late surge from the visitors to gain a crucial victory.
