Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Tottenham Hotspur could line up for Wednesday's EFL Cup clash with Burnley.

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to cope without Ryan Sessegnon and Matt Doherty for Wednesday's EFL Cup last-16 clash with Burnley at Turf Moor.

Sessegnon will be out for "a while" with a hamstring problem, Nuno Espirito Santo recently confirmed, while Doherty is working his way back from a knock but is unlikely to be involved so soon.

Both men would have been eyeing starts in this fixture, but Santo otherwise has no fresh injury concerns and will take this opportunity to rotate in all areas of the pitch, even with a cup quarter-final at stake.

Pierluigi Gollini ought to earn another opportunity in goal as Hugo Lloris is rested, while Japhet Tanganga and Ben Davies could replace Emerson Royal and Sergio Reguilon in the full-back areas.

Cristian Romero could hold his place in the centre of defence alongside a new partner in Davinson Sanchez, and it would not be a surprise to see Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp both reprise their roles in midfield.

Dele Alli could be reintroduced over Tanguy Ndombele, though, while Steven Bergwijn and Bryan Gil both have strong chances of starting in the wide areas.

Son Heung-min may be sacrificed despite boasting four goals from his last six EFL Cup starts, while 17-year-old Dane Scarlett is unlikely to push Harry Kane for a start up top against Premier League opposition.

Tottenham possible starting lineup: Gollini; Tanganga, Romero, Sanchez, Davies; Hojbjerg, Skipp, Alli; Gil, Kane, Bergwijn
