Orlando City hold Real Salt Lake despite Kaka dismissal

Orlando City earn a point in their MLS clash against Real Salt Lake despite playing the second half with 10 men after Kaka was sent off before the break.

Orlando City have held Real Salt Lake to a 1-1 draw in their MLS clash despite playing the majority of the match with 10 men after Kaka was dismissed.

The home side were the first to threaten as a cross into the box caused havoc in the area before the ball eventually fell to Sebastian Jaime, who saw his effort well saved by Tally Hall.

Orlando took the lead in the fourth minute when Pedro Riberio released the run of Kaka through the middle and the Brazilian displayed his composure as he slotted the ball past Jeff Attinella.

Salt Lake responded to going behind as Joao Plata raided forward to the edge of the box and fired at goal, and although his effort was deflected Hall managed to make a solid stop.

Real found their equaliser when Tony Beltran lifted in a cross from the right and Jaime rose highest in the box to power a header past Hall.

City were reduced to 10 men just before the break when Kaka was given a straight red card for bundling over Javier Morales as the duo tussled for the ball, just the third dismissal of the Brazilian's career.

After the break, Orlando threatened to take the lead as they won a free kick outside the box, and Carlos Rivas's low stroke went inches past the post.

City continued to put the pressure on the home side despite their numerical disadvantage as Sean St Ledger guided a header towards the net, but Attinella tipped his effort over the bar at full stretch.

Substitute Sebastian Saucedo almost handed Salt Lake the lead when he blasted an effort from distance, but Hall pulled off a miraculous save to tip the ball on to the post and watched as it bounced to safety.

In the dying minutes, the home side upped the ante in search of a winner, but Morales saw his late effort well saved by Hall as the visitors held out for the point.
