Manchester United are reportedly set to enquire about the availability of Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos, as they look to strengthen their forward line.

Manchester United are reportedly set to make an approach for Benfica forward Goncalo Ramos in the January transfer window.

After Cristiano Ronaldo's contract was mutually terminated last month, United boss Erik ten Hag is keen to sign a new striker.

According to ESPN, Ramos is one of the names on United's shortlist, and they are expected to enquire about a possible transfer in January.

Ramos has registered 14 goals and six assists across 21 appearances for Benfica this season, and he made headlines when he scored a hat-trick during Portugal's 6-1 victory over Switzerland at the 2022 World Cup after replacing Ronaldo in the starting lineup.

However, United may find it difficult to sign the 21-year-old during the winter transfer window following the recent remarks of Benfica president Rui Costa.

Costa insisted that Ramos would not leave the club unless his release clause was met, which is believed to be in the region of €120m (£103m).

While the Red Devils are interested in signing the Portugal international, they are also monitoring Cody Gakpo, Rafael Leao and Joao Felix, who play for PSV Eindhoven, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid respectively.
