Borussia Dortmund director Michael Zorc announces his desire to keep much-coveted striker Erling Braut Haaland for "as long as possible".

Borussia Dortmund CEO Michael Zorc has affirmed that the club will do their utmost to keep Erling Braut Haaland on the books at the Westfalenstadion.

After yet another prolific campaign in black and yellow, Haaland has been linked with almost every top European club on the landscape, with Real Madrid, Manchester United and Manchester City believed to be especially keen.

Dortmund risk losing some of their most prized assets if they fail to secure Champions League qualification, but Zorc is desperate for the club to ply their trade in Europe's biggest competition in a bid to keep Haaland for a little while longer.

Speaking to Welt am Sonntag, the Dortmund chief said: "I have never seen someone like him. We can search Europe-wide. If he ever left us somewhere, there would only be a handful of clubs, but we'll try to keep him as long as possible for sporting reasons.

"We don't want to play in the Europa League on Thursdays. We want to give our calling card in the Champions League."

Haaland surprisingly did not find the back of the net against Hertha Berlin on Saturday, but he has struck 31 times in 30 games across all competitions during the 2020-21 campaign.
