Barcelona vice-president: 'Haaland move is unlikely'

Barcelona vice-president president Rafa Yuste admits that his club are unlikely to be in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland next year.

Barcelona vice-president president Rafa Yuste has conceded that his club are unlikely to be in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland during next summer's transfer window.

The Norway international is widely expected to leave BVB next year when a release clause in his contract becomes active, and a number of leading European clubs are likely to compete for his signature.

However, Yuste has claimed that he 'does not see' Barcelona moving for the 21-year-old due to the club's financial problems, which will take time to address.

"I prefer to be governed by the principle of prudence. We come from a situation of a huge economic crisis, therefore prudence," Yuste told Mundo Deportivo.

"I do not see Haaland [signing] happening now. From now to next year we will see what the situation is and what we can do in terms of signings. First we have to lay the foundations of a house that we have found in ruins, so let's focus first on fortifying it.

"Let's feed those at home first and then we'll see what else we can do, without losing sight of the fact that we always want to have the best, and Haaland is one of the best in the world."

Manchester United, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Chelsea are all believed to be preparing to compete for Haaland's signature during next summer's transfer window.
