Qatar Sports Investments' apparent interest in purchasing a stake in Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly not be affected by the country's takeover bid for Manchester United.

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani's bid to buy Manchester United would reportedly not prevent another Qatari firm from investing in Tottenham Hotspur.

Qatar Sports Investments - the group which owns Paris Saint-Germain - are understood to be looking into the possibility of investing in a Premier League club.

Tottenham have been touted as the club at the top of their list, with QSI thought to be keen on acquiring a minority share of the North London outfit should owner Joe Lewis and chairman Daniel Levy be willing to sell it.

The current Spurs owners have not offered any public indication that they are interested in selling the club, but that has not prevented speculation from mounting at a time when both Manchester United and Liverpool are also up for sale.

Iranian-American billionaire Jahm Najafi is reportedly preparing a takeover bid worth around £3.1bn in an attempt to test Lewis and Levy's resolve, while recent reports have claimed that talks have been held with numerous bidders.

QSI would not be targeting a complete takeover, though, instead looking to expand their reach across Europe by buying minority stakes in clubs.

In addition to owning PSG, the Doha-based firm also bought a 21.67% stake in Portuguese outfit Braga in October of last year.

Sheikh Jassim's bid to buy Manchester United raised questions over whether Qatar-based owners would be allowed to own part or all of two clubs in the same division, given their close ties to the state.

However, The Times reports that all parties are confident there is a clear enough division between QSI, the Qatari Investment Bank led by Sheikh Jassim and the country's sovereign wealth fund to ensure that any bid for one club would not affect a separate offer for a different club.

Lewis and Levy currently own 86.6% of Spurs, having grown their stake since first investing in the club in 2000.

In May 2022, Forbes valued the club at around £1.9bn, and Tottenham's state-of-the-art stadium, location in London and profitability off the field have made them an attractive proposition for potential buyers.
