Pep Guardiola has broken his silence on Manchester City's new arrival Erling Braut Haaland, stating that the striker will 'adapt perfectly' in his team next season.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Citizens announced that they have reached an agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund to sign the 21-year-old this summer, subject to 'finalising terms' with the player.

Guardiola admitted that he was "not allowed" to comment on speculation surrounding Haaland's future prior to the confirmation, but following City's comfortable 5-1 Premier League victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday night, the Spaniard was able to share his views on the Norwegian's arrival.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Guardiola said: "It is a decision for the club to make a good sign for the future. He can come for many, many years hopefully and I am pretty sure he will adapt perfectly to our team but for next season.

"I'm excited in my job but of course, the players make you a good manager. [Haaland] is an incredible young talent, perfect age. I am pretty sure we are going to help him settle as best possible."

Haaland, who has scored 85 goals in 88 appearances across all competitions for Dortmund, is set to bid farewell to the Bundesliga outfit when they face Hertha Berlin on the final day of the season on Saturday.

City extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to three points after four goals from Kevin De Bruyne – including a first-half hat-trick – and a late strike from Raheem Sterling helped the Citizens secure their fifth successive league victory.
