Luton Town promoted from Conference

Luton Town seal promotion to League Two, clinching the Conference title with three games to spare.

Luton Town have won the Conference title, securing their promotion to League Two for the 2014-15 season.

Cambridge United's 2-0 defeat to Kidderminster Harriers this evening leaves the Hatters 10 points clear at the top of the division with just three games still to play.

Club chairman Nick Owen told BBC Radio 5 live: "It is wonderful to be back in the Football League.

"It's taken us five seasons, we've got close and lost some playoff finals and it is such a relief to get back there. We have got a good side and played some lovely football this season. We have some youngsters who will only get better.

"I nearly went to Kidderminster but decided there was something not quite right about going to a game hoping a team would lose. It's a great moment for tens of thousands of fans in Luton and around the world."

Luton dropped out of the Football League in 2009, and lost two playoff finals during their five-year stay in the Conference.
