Midfielder Philippe Coutinho would reportedly prefer to remain at Barcelona for the remainder of the season.

Philippe Coutinho reportedly has little interest in leaving Barcelona during the January transfer window.

The 29-year-old has featured regularly in the first-team squad this season, making four starts and seven substitute outings in La Liga and the Champions League.

However, with the Brazilian wanting more game time and the Catalan giants keen to reduce their wage bill, it has been regularly claimed that a transfer could take place at the turn of the year.

According to Sport, that will now not be the case with Coutinho having made the decision to fight for his place under new head coach Xavi.

The report maintains that Barcelona would prefer to part ways with the player, whether that be on a temporary or permanent basis.

Coutinho, who is tied to Camp Nou until 2023, has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs, including former club Liverpool and Newcastle United.
