Liverpool reveal that Thiago Alcantara will miss their Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur after testing positive for coronavirus.

Liverpool have revealed that Thiago Alcantara will miss this afternoon's Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur after testing positive for coronavirus.

The Spaniard becomes the fourth Liverpool player to return a positive test in the past week, with Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho and Curtis Jones all having been ruled out of both the midweek win over Newcastle United and today's trip to Tottenham.

However, the Reds have confirmed that no other players have tested positive for COVID-19, meaning that the game in North London is still able to go ahead.

Liverpool will also be without Jordan Henderson for the trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with the captain ruled out through illness, although he has tested negative for coronavirus.

Jurgen Klopp's side have limited options in midfield as a result, with Harvey Elliott also unavailable alongside Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago and Jones.

Liverpool visit Spurs looking to record a seventh straight Premier League win and keep pace with Manchester City at the top of the table.
