Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey is confident that manager Jurgen Klopp would not leave the club even if Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona made an approach.

Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey has expressed his belief that manager Jurgen Klopp would not leave the club even if Real Madrid or Barcelona came knocking.

Klopp has solidified his status as one of the world's best managers since taking over at Anfield, leading Liverpool to Champions League glory in addition to winning the European Super Cup and Club World Cup last year.

The Reds also sit 25 points clear at the top of the Premier League table, and Heskey believes that there is still more to come from the German's project, which will be enough to keep him on Merseyside.

"There is always an option that Klopp could leave to join a club like Real Madrid or Barcelona. But I don't think that Klopp is finished with the project that he has started at Liverpool," Heskey told Genting Bet.

"'They are moving into a new training facility, they are really getting to where they feel that they can be when it comes to being recognised as an international brand as a football club.

"Klopp has really put them on the map there. I think Klopp still feels like he has a lot to do. So, I don't think the fans will be overly worried about Klopp leaving."

Klopp recently signed a new contract at Liverpool which ties him to the club until 2024.
