Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte pleased with Christian Eriksen progress

Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte talks up Christian Eriksen's quality after the playmaker turned his fortunes around at San Siro.

Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte has expressed his delight at Christian Eriksen's turnaround in fortunes at San Siro.

The Denmark international did not appear to have a future with the Nerazzurri after being listed for transfer in January, but a proposed move back to the Premier League failed to come to fruition.

However, Eriksen has since enjoyed more game time under Conte and scored a delightful free kick against bitter rivals AC Milan in the Coppa Italia last month, leading Conte to talk up his qualities.

Speaking to Tuttosport, the Inter manager said: "He is starting to understand a little what we want from him, the fact he played for the second game in a row is positive and, even today [against Lazio], he played a very good game.

"He had a bit of an acclimatisation problem, it took him a while to understand Italian football which is more tactical and now there is more intensity than in previous years.

"He started to enter into certain situations and now he has taken a step forward for us. He is starting to understand Italian and this is very important and what we need.

'(Against Lazio on Sunday) he played a very careful game even in the defensive phase. He is a player who gives quality and finding him is one more weapon for me."

Eriksen's free kick against Milan was his first goal contribution of the season, and he has started just six Serie A games for the Nerazzurri this term.
