Timo Werner looking to equal Didier Drogba Chelsea record against Newcastle

Timo Werner will become the first Chelsea player since Didier Drogba in 2009 to hit the back of the net five times in a row if he scores against Newcastle this weekend.

Timo Werner will become the first player in 11 years to score in five consecutive matches for Chelsea should he find the back of the net against Newcastle United this weekend.

Frank Lampard's Blues are firing on all cylinders at the moment and have won their last four on the bounce over Krasnodar, Burnley, Rennes and Sheffield United, with Werner on the scoresheet each time.

The former RB Leipzig man will certainly be confident of chalking up at least another one against Newcastle, which would see him become the first player to hit the back of the net five times in a row for Chelsea since Didier Drogba in November 2009.

Furthermore, a goal for Werner this weekend would also see him become the fourth German in Premier League history to score in three consecutive matches, which has already been done by Jurgen Klinsmann (3), Dietmar Hamann and Leroy Sane.

Werner already has eight goals to his name in all competitions for the Blues, but the 24-year-old has a long way to go before catching Drogba, who chalked up 164 across two spells at Stamford Bridge.
