Preview: Blackburn Rovers vs. Brighton & Hove Albion

Sports Mole takes a closer look at the two sides ahead of Saturday's Championship game between Blackburn Rovers and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Brighton & Hove Albion can move a step closer to securing their Championship status for another season when they visit Blackburn Rovers on Saturday afternoon.

A goalless draw with Millwall in midweek may not have stolen many headlines, but avoiding defeat against one of the sides currently sitting in the relegation zone has allowed the Seagulls to remain relatively comfortable.

Despite picking up another point in the battle to beat the drop, Chris Hughton will want his side to avoid becoming complacent in the final eight games of the campaign.

They currently sit eight points ahead of 22nd-placed Wigan Athletic, and another two or three wins should be enough to allow the Brighton supporters to relax.

Blackburn's fine form came to an end in midweek as four successive victories were followed by a 3-2 loss to Brentford, who twice came from behind to beat Gary Bowyer's side.

The chances of reaching the playoffs look unrealistic at best for Blackburn, but with an FA Cup replay against Liverpool awaiting them next month, Bowyer will be keen to gain some momentum.

Jay Spearing looks set to return to the Rovers midfield, while Rudy Gestede and Jordan Rhodes are likely to continue their partnership in attack.

Hughton will be forced into at least one change, with Leon Best unavailable due to the terms of his loan from Rovers, while Lewis Dunk will serve the second game of a two-match suspension.
