Arsenal are reportedly considering whether to bring Saint-Etienne defender William Saliba to the Emirates Stadium in January, rather than in the summer.

Arsenal may reportedly approach Saint-Etienne about pushing forward the transfer of William Saliba.

Earlier this year, Arsenal agreed a deal to sign the centre-back at the end of the season, providing him with an extra 12 months of first-team football in Ligue 1.

However, at a time when the 18-year-old has made just seven appearances for the French outfit, Arsenal have had their own issues at the back.

According to The Mirror, the Gunners are prepared to hold negotiations over bringing the prospect to the Emirates Stadium at the beginning of 2020.

While the injury sustained by Calum Chambers appears to have triggered the idea, newly-appointed boss Mikel Arteta is also keen to work with the teenager as soon as possible.

Arsenal currently sit in 12th position in the Premier League table, 11 points adrift of the top four.
