Arsenal can lose five Premier League games at the Emirates Stadium for the first time ever in a single season when Newcastle United pay a visit on Monday evening.

Arsenal will be desperate to avoid setting an unwanted losing record when they welcome Newcastle United to the Emirates Stadium on Monday night.

The Gunners have shown signs of improvement in recent weeks, but their short-lived winning run came grinding to a halt with a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace last week after beating Newcastle 2-0 in the FA Cup.

While Mikel Arteta's side took a point off the Eagles despite James Tomkins's header crashing against the bar, they have already lost at home to Leicester City, Aston Villa, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Burnley in the 2020-21 Premier League campaign - equalling a record of four top-flight losses at home from the 2010-11 season.

Should Newcastle manage to come up trumps on Monday, it will mark the first time ever that Arsenal have lost five Premier League matches at the Emirates in a single season.

The last time that the Gunners suffered a quintet of top-flight home defeats was during the 1994-95 campaign, but on the other hand, they have won their last six Premier League matches at the Emirates on a Monday evening, with Newcastle being their most recent victims in April 2019.

Arteta's men have risen up to 11th in the table after winning three and drawing one of their last four, but nine points separate Arsenal from bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur in fifth.
