Team England gymnast Louis Smith believes that his break from the sport was the "best thing" for him.
Smith was part of the four-man England team that have all but secured the gold medal in the men's artistic gymnastics at the Commonwealth Games.
The 25-year-old's proposed success comes just months following his return to the sport after deciding to reconsider his retirement.
He told reporters: "I don't regret it at all, it's probably been the best thing that I've ever done. To fall back in love with the sport, to miss it so much and want to get back into it and prove how hard it's been to fight my way back and get to where I am.
"I think it shows in how much I'm enjoying it at the minute. Taking the time off was brilliant. Strictly Come Dancing - I loved it."
Smith will also compete in the men's pommel horse final on Thursday.
