West Bromwich Albion sack technical director Nick Hammond

Technical director Nick Hammond becomes the latest casualty as West Bromwich Albion continue their restructuring process.

Premier League strugglers West Bromwich Albion have continued their behind-the-scenes restructuring by sacking technical director Nick Hammond.

The Baggies are preparing for life in the second tier after a terrible campaign that has seen them win just three of their 33 top-flight matches.

Following the exits of chairman John Williams and chief executive Martin Goodman in February, Hammond has become the latest to leave The Hawthorns.

Sky Sports News reports that new chief executive Mark Jenkins made the call, a little over a week on from sacking manager Alan Pardew.

"We would like to place on record our gratitude for Nick's efforts during his two years in the role and wish him every success for his future," Jenkins said in a club statement.

Hammond was responsible for breaking Albion's transfer record when bringing in Scottish winger Oliver Burke for £15m last summer.
