West Bromwich Albion to hold contract talks with Steve Clarke in New Year

West Bromwich Albion announce that they will hold contract talks with head coach Steve Clarke in the New Year.

West Bromwich Albion have released a statement confirming that they will hold talks with head coach Steve Clarke regarding his contract situation in the New Year.

Concerns over Clarke's position at The Hawthorns emerged following reports that the Premier League outfit have decided to delay discussions over fresh terms.

However, sporting and technical director Richard Garlick has insisted that the ex-Liverpool coach is "comfortable" waiting until after the hectic festive schedule to discuss his future.

"Steve's contract situation was discussed at last month's board meeting," Garlick told the club's official website. "We decided that we would open talks with Steve in the New Year which, historically, we feel is the appropriate time to address such matters.

"We have got an extremely busy period ahead, with important games coming thick and fast. Once the Christmas period is out of the way, we plan to sit down with Steve and discuss his future.

"Steve is aware of our plans and has told us he is comfortable with the situation."

Clarke, who was appointed in the role in June last year, will come to the end of his current contract at the close of the season.
