Half-Time Report: Geoffrey Kondogbia opens account to put Inter Milan ahead

Inter Milan hold a 1-0 lead over Torino at half time in their Serie A clash, courtesy of Geoffrey Kondogbia's first goal for the club.

Geoffrey Kondogbia's first goal for Inter Milan since joining in the summer has given his side a 1-0 half-time lead over Torino in Serie A.

The first chance of the contest fell the way of the visitors, who came close to making a breakthrough when the returning Mauro Icardi's cross was destined to be tapped home by Rodrigo Palacio, only for Emiliano Moretti to divert it away.

Torino were seeing plenty of the ball as the opening quarter of the match wore on, but were unable to really ask any questions of their opponents who were remaining compact at the back.

Then came a big moment in the game as former Inter player Marco Benassi curled a fine effort towards goal from distance, which crashed back off the bar to the relief of the Nerazzurri backline.

Just a couple of minutes after that Roberto Mancini's men were ahead, courtesy of Kondogbia's back-post strike at the end of a flicked-on Yuto Nagatomo free kick.

Torino, without a win in five heading into this one, continued to see plenty of the ball and felt that they should have been awarded a penalty shortly before the interval.

Andrea Belotti went down under a challenge from Jeison Murillo, but the referee waved play on to keep Inter well on track to claiming top spot in the table.
