Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly already formulating plans for a second loan period away from the club for striker Alejo Veliz.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly already decided that Alejo Veliz will spend a season out on loan during 2024-25.

Last summer, with some of the funds generated from the sale of Harry Kane, Spurs paid a reported £13m to sign Veliz from Rosario Central.

The 20-year-old was never expected to feature prominently in the first team under Ange Postecoglou, yet he was provided with game time from the substitutes' bench during the first half of the season.

A total of eight substitute outings came in the Premier League, albeit only equating to 45 minutes on the pitch between the end of September and December.

Veliz would get on the scoresheet over the Christmas period, netting a consolation during the 4-2 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion, but the acquisition of Timo Werner pushed him further down the pecking order.

Sevilla loan

As a result, the Argentina Under-20 international was allowed to link up with Sevilla for the rest of the campaign in the hope that he would gain game time on a regular basis.

Instead, Veliz has spent less time on the pitch, accumulating 23 minutes across three substitute outings and not playing since the game with Real Sociedad on March 2.

Although that could change during the closing weeks of the season, Veliz is behind the likes of Youssef En-Nesyri, Isaac Romero and Dodi Lukebakio.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romero, Spurs have already reached a solution in terms of what to do with Veliz next season.

Romano says that the North Londoners are preparing to send the prospect to a club where he has more chance of playing on a weekly basis.

Despite a scenario arising where Veliz could be used at Spurs courtesy of their expected busier schedule, a consequence of European football, club officials seemingly prefer Veliz to start games elsewhere.

Which clubs and divisions could be targeted?

Based on their 2023-24 outgoings, no pattern has emerged regarding where Spurs like players to gain experience, with it seemingly all dependent on the situation.

Fellow fringe forward Troy Parrott has spent time in the Netherlands with Excelsior, but Veliz is regarded more highly than the Republic of Ireland international at this point.

Nevertheless, a stint in a division such as the Eredivisie or Portugal's Primeira Liga may be preferred if Veliz is only targeted as a squad option at bigger clubs in higher-profile leagues.

There has been nothing from his stint at Sevilla that may encourage another mid-to-lower-end La Liga side to take a punt, while a return to South America is likely to be ruled out with experience in Europe required.
