Wednesday's Primeira Liga predictions including Sporting Lisbon vs. Maritimo

Sports Mole provides score predictions for all of Wednesday's Primeira Liga fixtures, including Sporting Lisbon vs. Maritimo.

Porto vs. Belenenses (Wednesday, 6.00pm)

Having sealed their second-placed finish in the Primeira Liga table, Porto welcome Belenenses to the Estadio do Dragao in the final game of the domestic season on Wednesday evening.

While they have fallen short to champions Sporting Lisbon, a 3-0 win over Rio Ave saw them maintain the four-point gap between themselves and third-placed Benfica with one game left to play, booking their place in next season's Champions League as a result.

We say: Porto 2-0 Belenenses

Although Belenenses have undoubtedly improved in the second half of the campaign, we see Porto simply being too strong for their visitors on Wednesday.

Os Dragoes will hope to end the season with three consecutive wins, and they have more than enough attacking quality to break down Belenenses' resilient defence and secure all three points.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Moreirense vs. Famalicao (Wednesday, 8.00pm)

Two clubs locked together on points in the Primeira Liga table meet on the final day, as modest Moreirense welcome Famalicao to Parque Moreira de Canons on Wednesday.

With a potential top-half finish being on offer for the winner, there is still something to play for in Guimaraes.

We say: Moreirense 1-2 Famalicao

A Famalicao side who have improved hugely under former Moreirense boss Ivo Vieira should extend their recent resurgence with a fourth win on the spin - and the promise of better things to come next season.

The hosts, meanwhile, have toiled towards the back end of their 2020-21 campaign and may have to settle for a place in the bottom half of the standings at the final whistle.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Guimaraes vs. Benfica (Wednesday, 8.00pm)

Fresh off handing champions Sporting Lisbon their first league defeat of the season, Benfica travel to Vitoria de Guimaraes on Wednesday for the final game of the domestic league season.

Despite a strong run of form in the final month of the season, the consistency of rivals Porto meant that the visitors can no longer finish in the top two of the Primeira Liga table, although they will still be desperate to finish the league campaign with a third straight league victory as they go into the Taca de Portugal final on Sunday.

We say: Vitoria de Guimaraes 0-2 Benfica

The two sides come into this game in opposite runs of form, and we do not see the hosts pulling off a surprise result on Wednesday.

After an inconsistent run of form towards the beginning of the calendar year, Benfica have managed to hit their stride again, and they should not slow down as they aim to build momentum going into the cup final this weekend.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Gil Vicente vs. Boavista (Wednesday, 8.00pm)

Boavista travel to Gil Vicente on Wednesday in the final game of the Portuguese Primeira Liga, with the away side at risk of being relegated.

The visitors currently sit two points above the relegation zone and the goal difference between the teams at the bottom-end of the table is close, with Boavista only two goals better off than 17th-placed Farense.

We say: Gil Vicente 0-1 Boavista

Gil Vicente's home form in the league this season is the second-worst in the Primeira Liga and Wednesday's hosts do not have that much to play for in terms of qualifying for any tournament or avoiding any relegation.

Boavista know that three points will guarantee their safety in the league and this motivation should be enough for Ferreira's side to ensure they control the destiny of their club and do not rely on other results.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Portimonense vs. Braga (Wednesday, 8.00pm)

Braga head coach Carlos Carvalhal pictured in December 2020© Reuters

Portimonense will look to avoid dropping into the bottom three of the Primeira Liga table on the final day of the regular league season on Wednesday, as they play host to fourth-placed Braga.

A defeat on the final day, coupled with a win for Rio Ave and a result for Boavista, would see Paulo Sergio's side fall into the relegation playoff place, resulting in them going into another battle to avoid dropping to the second tier.

We say: Portimonense 1-2 Braga

While Portimonense will battle hard for a result to confirm their survival without having to worry about other results, Braga should have enough to finish the campaign with a victory on Wednesday.

After a disappointing run, the late winner last time out should lift the mood in the Archbishops' camp going into the final day, and they will be desperate to pick up another win as they go into a crucial cup final at the weekend.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Santa Clara vs. Farense (Wednesday, 8.00pm)

Santa Clara host SC Farense on Wednesday in the final gameweek of the Primeira Liga, and both teams have something to fight for at different ends of the table.

The home side currently sit seventh but they are level on points with Vitoria de Guimaraes, who are placed in the final Europa League qualification spot as it stands, and the away side need a victory to avoid relegation.

We say: Santa Clara 2-1 SC Farense

With both teams fighting for something on the final day of the season, the game on Wednesday is set to be an exciting one as both teams are in need of three points.

Santa Clara should have more quality than their counterparts considering their much higher league position and the attraction of a Europa League qualification spot could bring out a top performance from the home side.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Nacional vs. Rio Ave (Wednesday, 8.00pm)

Miguel Cardoso, now in charge of Rio Ave, pictured in 2018© Reuters

In the intense battle to avoid the drop on the final day of the season, Rio Ave travel to take on already-relegated Nacional on Wednesday, as they look to stay out of the bottom two of the Primeira Liga table.

Os Rioavista find themselves in the relegation playoff place, only ahead of Farense in the drop zone based on head-to-head results, meaning that Miguel Cardoso's side will avoid the automatic drop if they match or better Farense's result on the final day.

We say: Nacional 0-1 Rio Ave

While they have been poor in the second half of the season and look to be limping towards relegation, the need for a result coupled with Nacional's relegation should inspire the visitors to a crucial victory on Wednesday to avoid the automatic drop.

Nacional's fate being sealed should mean that they could be more of a pushover as opposed to if they were fighting for survival, meaning Cardoso's crop should outfight the basement side away from home.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Sporting Lisbon vs. Maritimo (Wednesday, 9.45pm)

After suffering their first league defeat of the season last time out, Primeira Liga champions Sporting Lisbon welcome Maritimo to the Estadio Jose Alvalade on Wednesday in the final game of the domestic season.

Os Leoes' 32-game league unbeaten run was broken by city rivals Benfica in a dramatic match on Saturday, while the visitors picked up a point against Vitoria de Guimaraes last time out to confirm their survival.

We say: Sporting Lisbon 1-1 Maritimo

Understandably, Sporting Lisbon may take their foot off the gas after an intense title push, and we see a resilient Maritimo picking up a surprise result on Wednesday.

However, we would expect Amorim's side not to suffer a second straight defeat, as they look to avoid another blemish on a great domestic campaign.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.
