Newly-appointed Republic of Ireland manager Stephen Kenny reveals that Jeff Hendrick's proposed transfer to AC Milan is now in doubt due to the coronavirus.

Newly-appointed Republic of Ireland manager Stephen Kenny has revealed that Jeff Hendrick's proposed transfer to Italian giants AC Milan is now in doubt due to coronavirus.

Hendrick is now a free agent after running down his contract with Burnley and rejecting an offer of an extension.

The 28-year-old has been heavily linked with a surprise move to the San Siro and the Daily Mail reports that any move to Italy could be in tatters, according to Hendrick's new national team manager.

"Covid has impacted his situation, probably. He's in the prime of his career and he's a free agent so he won't be short of options, I'm sure. He'll have good offers," Kenny said during his official unveiling as the new Republic of Ireland boss.

"But I don't know where he's going or what he has planned now. That's his private business at the moment."

Hendrick was hoping to become just the third Irish footballer to play in Serie A after Liam Brady and former international teammate Robbie Keane.
