Alan Pardew not looking to buy British players

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew says it is unlikely that he will buy British players if he is to make more additions to his squad.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has admitted that he is unlikely to buy any British players if he is to add to his squad.

The Magpies have signed three English players this summer in the form of Jack Colback, Karl Darlow and Jamaal Lascelles.

However, Pardew believes that there is not much value in the British market.

"We keep talking about British players and English players being promoted, but every time you try to go and buy one in Britain, it is very difficult," the Sunderland Echo quotes him as saying.

"It's such a shame. If we could get some realism around our own strikers, then maybe they would get more opportunities. If you looking out there for British strikers, there aren't too many.

"But there are some good players in the background, particularly in the top five clubs, and it is a shame they can't get their chance and a platform to play."

Pardew's side played out a goalless draw with Aston Villa on Saturday.
