Aitor Karanka: 'Middlesbrough responded to equaliser'

Aitor Karanka praises his Middlesbrough side for their response after briefly letting their lead slip at home to Brentford.

Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka has suggested that his team responded well after conceding an equaliser early in the second half against Brentford.

The Teesiders led at half time through Christian Stuani's goal, but the Bees levelled through Lasse Vibe before Boro finally wrapped up a 3-1 victory in the latter stages.

However, Karanka has claimed that he is pleased with Middlesbrough's response in the last half-hour, where Stuani again got on the scoresheet before Albert Adomah sealed their win.

He told the club's official website: "Brentford are a good team. The table is not a reflection on them and everyone could see they are a good side. When we conceded it was a problem.

"Yes they have lost players through injury this season, but they have good players who have replaced them and they are a good team. They are dangerous and they made it difficult.

"I knew when they equalised we had a problem. I told them we had to try and stop them early in the second half. But we responded well, especially in the last 30 minutes with the team playing the way we like to play, we were better and I felt that the game was finished."

Boro's win now puts them into second in the Championship.
