The potential appointment of Zinedine Zidane as Paris Saint-Germain manager could reportedly harm Real Madrid's attempts to sign Kylian Mbappe.

The potential appointment of Zinedine Zidane as Paris Saint-Germain manager could reportedly harm Real Madrid's attempts to sign Kylian Mbappe.

Zidane has recently been linked with a move to the Ligue 1 leaders, following reports suggesting Mauricio Pochettino is being lined up to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United.

The 49-year-old himself is believed to have been offered the United vacancy; however, he has rejected their approach as he is holding out for the PSG or France national team job.

According to Marca, Los Blancos fear that Zidane's potential arrival at PSG could convince Mbappe to stay at the Parc des Princes, at least until beyond the 2022 World Cup.

The report adds that Zidane tried to recruit the 22-year-old during his time at the Santiago Bernabeu, and the pair are admirers of each other.

Mbappe, who is out of contract next summer, will be able to speak with other clubs from January 1 ahead of a potential free transfer; however, the Parisian outfit are keen to tie the forward down to a new long-term deal.
