Ajax chief Edwin van der Sar rubbishes talk of a potential move for Manchester United's Dean Henderson in January.

Ajax chief executive Edwin van der Sar has insisted that the Dutch giants do not hold an interest in Manchester United's Dean Henderson.

The Dutch champions are expected to lose Andre Onana on a free transfer in 2022, while 38-year-old Remko Pasveer has often occupied the gloves this season.

As a result, Ajax had supposedly identified Henderson as an ideal target for the January transfer window, but Van der Sar has now rubbished such talk.

Speaking to VoetbalPrimeur, the former Man United number one said: "I heard that you can now hire [agencies] for two thousand euros a month, so that very nice messages about players are thrown into the world.

"You are continuously linked to players, whether they come from South America or Eastern Europe. But no, this makes no sense."

Henderson is still being tipped to leave Man United on loan over the winter, with the 24-year-old yet to play a single minute of top-flight football for the Red Devils this term.

Meanwhile, Van der Sar has also played down links of a return to Old Trafford as Ed Woodward prepares to leave his executive vice-chairman role.
