Borussia Dortmund could reportedly ban themselves from making any transfers this summer if they fail to qualify for the Champions League, in a bid to keep hold of Erling Braut Haaland.

The Norwegian international has been heavily linked with a move away from the German giants and is now considering his options heading into this summer's transfer window.

The coronavirus pandemic has seen several clubs across Europe struggle financially over the past year, including Dortmund, and failing to qualify for the Champions League would increase their need to offload some of their star players in order to balance their books.

A run of four successive wins has moved Edin Terzic's side to within one point of Eintracht Frankfurt in fourth place with just three matches left to play, however, the German outfit are unlikely to keep hold of Haaland if Champions League football is not part of their schedule for next season.

According to Bild, Haaland's representatives are happy for the 20-year-old to stay with Dortmund next season if they finish in the top four, and there is a mutual understanding between both parties that the Norwegian can move on if his £68m release clause in met in the summer of 2022.

However, the Bundesliga outfit are willing to stick with the same first-team squad that they have now, instead of using any funds that they would receive from the sale of Haaland to buy new recruits this summer.

Dortmund currently value Haaland at around £150m, but the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona would not be prepared to pay such a fee in the current financial climate.
