Barcelona are concerned that Ousmane Dembele could leave the club on a free transfer, according to a report.

Barcelona are reportedly concerned that Ousmane Dembele will run down his contract at Camp Nou before leaving the club on a free transfer.

The 23-year-old has made 82 appearances for the Catalan giants since arriving from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 but has largely struggled to impress.

The France international was strongly linked with a move away from Ronald Koeman's side over the summer, with Manchester United thought to be interested in a deal.

The World Cup winner remained at Camp Nou, though, and has been in relatively good form during the 2020-21 campaign, contributing three goals in eight appearances in all competitions.

Dembele has still not penned a new deal with Barca, however, meaning that as it stands he would be able to discuss terms with foreign clubs over a free transfer in January 2022.

According to Sport, the La Liga giants are fearful that the attacker already has a plan to run down his contract with the club before moving on a free transfer in the summer of 2022.

Juventus are believed to be closely monitoring developments surrounding the former Rennes youngster.
