Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag confirms that Alejandro Garnacho apologised to him for his activity on social media after the last game against Bournemouth.

Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Alejandro Garnacho apologised to him for his activity on social media after last weekend's 2-2 draw against Bournemouth.

The Argentina international was replaced at the interval of the Premier League clash at the Vitality Stadium, with Ten Hag claiming that he needed to "repair over the right side".

"I think we had to repair over the right side. We didn't play well, the spaces were there. In possession, we had to bring a sub there," Ten Hag told reporters after the match against the Cherries.

"Garnacho was during the week not training. Only yesterday. We thought to bring some energy and bring some more quality, quality in the sense of cooperation and togetherness on that right-hand side."

The 19-year-old liked tweets which criticised his removal and Ten Hag's post-match comments, but the situation is believed to have been dealt with internally earlier this week.

Ten Hag has confirmed that he received an apology from Garnacho, who is set to be involved in Sunday's FA Cup semi-final with Coventry City at Wembley Stadium.

"Alejandro is a young player. Has to learn a lot. He has apologised for it and we move on," Ten Hag told reporters during his press conference on Friday afternoon.

Garnacho has been a vital player for the 20-time English champions during the 2023-24 campaign, making 42 appearances in all competitions, scoring nine goals and registering four assists.

The Argentine has featured four times in the FA Cup this term, providing one assist, and he is again set to operate in the front three with Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund against Coventry.

Man United are the big favourites to overcome their Championship opponents this weekend, but Ten Hag has insisted that his side will not be taking the surprise semi-finalists lightly.

"We did our job and we are prepared, so we know their team, we know how they play, we know the individual abilities of the players," Ten Hag told reporters.

"Of course, also we know the manager, a former United player, striker, his long period there, he's doing a fantastic job there. So, we know a lot about them.

"Of course they are dangerous, they are in the semi-final. It's logical. Last season, they were that far away [gestures to a small gap] from being promoted to the Premier League. So they do a fantastic job over there.

"We have seen the game against Wolves, in the quarter-final, the mentality in the team is fabulous, so we have to play to our best levels."

Man United are expected to receive a triple injury boost for the clash against Coventry, with Antony, Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire set to be available for selection.
