Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson has talked up England international Jadon Sancho, who is reportedly close to signing for the Red Devils from Borussia Dortmund.

The 21-year-old has been a long-term target for Man United but the club are confident that they can secure his signature this summer, after they have been in talks with the German giants.

It is reported that the deal is being held up at the moment due to the two clubs disagreeing over a payment structure, however Ed Woodward is believed to be willing to pay the fee demanded by BVB.

In an interview with SportBild, Ferguson heaped praise on Sancho: "I think a lot of Jadon Sancho, with his one-on-one duels, as an assister and scorer, he is extremely dangerous.

"He has so much potential, he helps the team. That's why he'll be valuable to England over the course of the tournament."

The winger had a positive season with Borussia Dortmund during the 2020-21 campaign, as he scored eight goals and provided 12 assists in 26 Bundesliga appearances.

Sancho was left out of the England squad by Gareth Southgate for the Croatia game, but could return to face Scotland on Friday.
