Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney will miss his side's final game of the season against West Brom after being given permission to be with his pregnant wife, according to a report.

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney will reportedly miss his side's final game of the season after being given permission not to travel with the squad.

Rooney's wife Coleen is about to give birth to the couple's second child and boss Sir Alex Ferguson has allowed the 27-year-old to miss his final game as United manager against West Bromwich Albion, according to The Express.

The Scot revealed last week that the England international had asked to leave Old Trafford, strengthening reports that the striker will leave the club in the summer.

Rooney was part of the United team that secured the club's 20th top-flight title as they won the Premier League this season.
