Ex-Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp says that he feels 'quite heartbroken' when looking at Marcus Rashford's ongoing struggles.

Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp has said that he feels 'quite heartbroken' when looking at Marcus Rashford's ongoing struggles at Manchester United.

The 26-year-old has found it difficult to show his best form for the 20-time English champions during the 2023-24 campaign, only managing eight goals and six assists in 36 appearances in all competitions.

Rashford enjoyed a excellent 2022-23 season, scoring 30 goals and registering 11 assists in 56 appearances, which led to him signing a new long-term contract at Old Trafford.

The attacker has struggled this term, though, and there have also been claims that he is in danger of losing his spot in the England squad for Euro 2024.

Rashford again found it difficult to make his mark for Man United in Saturday's Premier League clash with Brentford, and he was replaced in the latter stages of the match as his side searched for a goal.

Redknapp said that he 'wants to see more' from the forward, who has often cut a frustrated figure on the field for Man United during the current season.

"Marcus Rashford is a player with so much talent," Redknapp told Sky Sports News. "God given talent, he's got everything. He's got an incredible physique, he can run, he can dribble, he can shoot, he got 30 goals last year.

"I look at a player right now. I think he's on eight goals, seven in the Premier League, and one in the FA Cup. He just looks like he's not enjoying his football. And for me, it's quite heartbreaking because he's got so much talent, I just want to see more."

Rashford's future has recently been the subject of speculation, with Paris Saint-Germain believed to be keen to sign him as a replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who is widely expected to join Real Madrid.

Could Rashford leave Man United this summer?

There have been claims that PSG are willing to pay £75m to sign Rashford this summer, with the French giants having a long-standing interest in his services.

However, Man United head coach Erik ten Hag recently played down suggestions that the Red Devils academy product could be on his way out this summer.

Meanwhile, a recent report claimed that Rashford was ready to turn down a lucrative switch to Paris in order to continue his career with the 20-time English champions.

There have also been off-the-field issues for Rashford this season, with the forward causing controversy earlier this year when he visited a nightclub in Dublin on two separate evenings and then called in sick for training before his side's FA Cup clash with Newport County.

A departure this summer would still be a surprise, though, with Man United said to have full confidence in the Englishman, who has managed 131 goals and 67 assists in 395 matches for the Red Devils.
