Manchester United team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Aston Villa

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester United's injury and suspension news ahead of their FA Cup third-round tie with Aston Villa on Monday.

Manchester United prepare for the first of two successive visits with Aston Villa on Monday with their FA Cup third-round encounter.

The Red Devils will seek a desperate return to winning ways after going down 1-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League, with Joao Moutinho netting the game's only goal.

Man United have lifted the FA Cup 12 times down the years, reaching the quarter-finals of the 2020-21 edition before bowing out to eventual winners Leicester City.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Man United's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest.

Possible return date: January 10 (vs. Villa)

Harry Maguire was ruled out of the Wolves encounter after suffering an injury in the abdominal area against Burnley, but his issue is not thought to be serious and he may return here.

Paul Pogba

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: January 10 (vs. Villa)

Paul Pogba has been sidelined for nearly two months with his serious thigh injury, but there is a slight chance that the Frenchman could be well enough for a spot on the bench here.

Victor Lindelof

Possible return date: January 10 (vs. Villa)

Victor Lindelof was still COVID-positive before the defeat to Wolves on Monday, so the defender's participation in the FA Cup is currently up in the air.
